IN THE VALLEY
Attend a Concert, Recital or Art Exhibition
Support the valley's students while enjoying first-class, often free, programs. Our local colleges offer wonderful opportunities to take in the arts. Our Calendar lists these events.
Horseback Riding at Sunset
Rainbow Ridge Ranch
Sunset rides are available daily through the scenic Angeles National Forest at Rainbow Ridge Ranch.
Camp under the Stars & Cozy up to a Flickering Fire
Overnight camping (with or without the RV) is as close as Castaic Lake Recreation Area.
Stroll around the Lake at Sunset
The park doesn't close to day visitors until just after sunset, so grab your sweetie by the hand and watch the sun drop behind the mountains.
Pack a picnic and strap on your rollerblades, then head to the Valencia paseos. When you're ready for a break, either settle in with your picnic or stop at one of the many ice cream stores or coffee shops in the city.
Fly a Kite
No, don't tell her to go fly a kite! Pick up some kites and head to the park, then let 'em rip!
Dance in the Moonlight
Head to a remote area or the local park, turn up the car radio and dance under the stars.
Dinner under the Stars
City parks don't close until 10:00 pm, so why not create your own "restaurant under the stars?" Pack a card table and chairs, tablecloth, music, camp light and picnic. Dinner alfresco!
Find the Constellations
On a starry night with some reading pillows, a blanket, a constellation book, and a book light, find a dark place to watch the stars and find the constellations.
Cuddle on the Patio
Grab the electric blanket, turn on some soft music and cuddle in the hammock or chaise lounge. If you don't have an electric blanket, warm your blankets in the dryer, alternating two to always have a warm one on hand.
Watch an Outdoor Movie
Bring a soft mattress and blankets and drive to a park or remote location. Play one of your favorite romantic movies on your ipad, laptop or DVD player. If you have a pickup truck, even better! And don't forget the warm blankets.
Row on the Lake
Okay, so you'll use the motor, but it doesn't sound as romantic, does it? Bring along a blanket and picnic basket, and the folks renting the boats will direct you to the unused campgrounds under the towering pines, quite private this time of year.
Star Gazing at Vasquez Rocks
Pack a thermos of hot cocoa and head to Vasquez Rocks for an evening cuddled around a telescope (provided). Contact the park for specific dates.
Embark on a Moonlight Hike
Grab your flashlights and join the trek through the Placerita Nature Center. Check with the park for specific dates.
