An old world European village, crisp mountain air, an authentic Irish Pub and…Starbucks? Grand Sierra Lodge at the Village of Mammoth combines the best of nostalgia and modern amenities to create a haven for those of us who wish to get back to nature, but not too close.

Narrow cobblestone walkways wind past eateries, shops and nightclubs offering everything we moderns demand including sushi and pizza. After a full day on the slopes, curl up with a hot cocoa in your plush condo or take the elevator to the village nightclub where the entertainment lasts well into the wee hours. Outdoor fire pits, live music and majestic steel bears create a delightful atmosphere.

Snowboarders and skiers will appreciate the Village Gondola, which whisks passengers to Canyon Lodge, Canyon Express, and the base of Chairs 7, 8, and 17 in just six minutes. Of course, no resort is complete without retail therapy and the Village is no exception. If you're staying behind with the kids, create something new at Color Me Mine or take them to the soda fountain at Busy Bee's General Store.

To make your visit to the village remarkable, every detail has been attended to. You'll pull into the toasty underground parking and take the elevator to your well-appointed one-, two- or three-bedroom condo. The Family Center caters to families with kids under twelve offering lessons, lift tickets and gear. Small World Child Care will even care for your child or provide lessons while you're hitting the slopes.

The Mammoth area provides great opportunities for unique activities like dog sledding, Full Moon Snowshoe Tours or Cross Country Ski Tours, snowmobile adventures and dipping into a hot spring.

Just over a four-hour drive from Santa Clarita on the eastern side of the Sierras, it's a destination well worth the drive. One of the most popular California ski resorts, it's best to make your reservations as quickly as possible.
