Yes, this is the granddaddy of all parades, with floral floats and marching bands...the one that millions of viewers across the country tune in to see every year. Living this close, about 40 minutes from the event, lends lots of exciting opportunities to become involved. In addition to the parade, you may purchase tickets to view the floats in their final stage of preparation--and you may even be able to help decorate them. For a few days after the parade, the floats are on display and you can get so close you can almost touch them. Other events are scheduled the week leading up to the parade.

Hollywood Christmas Parade

The largest celebrity parade in the world is located where else but in Hollywood - right at our back door! It's free if you'd like to choose a spot among the 1,000,000 spectators anywhere along the two-mile parade route that begins at Grauman's Chinese Theater or you may purchase advance tickets for grandstand seating. The evening ends with the arrival of Santa Claus on his reindeer-guided sleigh. The parade will be broadcast on KCAL 9.

Montrose Christmas Parade
Recommended as one of the top things to do for the holidays by the LA Convention & Visitors Bureau, this small town parade draws over 100 entries and 20,000 spectators. Celebrities and government officials join Santa Claus, who arrives via a Glendale police helicopter and rides in the parade on a Glendale fire truck.

Belmont Shore Christmas Parade, Long Beach
Attracting more than 45,000 spectators, the parade features over 100 entries, including bands, homemade floats and Santa Claus.

Las Posadas at Olvera Street, Los Angeles

Palos Verdes Peninsula Holiday Parade of Lights
Hosted by the City of Rolling Hills Estates, theme is designed to showcase the unique character of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The parade route is along Silver Spur Road and Deep Valley Drive, through the Promenade on the Peninsula to Norris Center Drive (Crossfield Drive) in the City of Rolling Hills Estates. After which, the Award's Ceremony is held at The Promenade on the Peninsula.

Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade
Over one million people will view this 5-night parade and according to the New York Times, this is "one of the top ten holiday happenings in the nation." In addition to the lighted boats and million-dollar yachts, the homes surrounding the harbor form a "Ring of Lights" as they are decorated with animated scenes on rooftops and dancing Christmas trees. Santa Barbara Parade of Lights
Thirty boats dress up in colored lights and parade around the Harbor. Bring your camera and visit Santa's Village beginning at 3 p.m. for a photo op with Santa and friends. Santa's Village will feature 10 tons of snow from the North Pole, holiday music and special treats. Come early to cheer on your favorite boats as they prepare for the Parade beginning at 5:30 p.m. Best viewing locations include Stearns Wharf and the Breakwater in the Harbor. Bring warm coats. Downtown Santa Barbara Holiday Parade
For over fifty years more than 65,000 spectators line downtown Santa Barbara to cheer a colossal contingent of high-stepping marching bands, fabulous holiday floats, spectacular performance groups, local personalities, and the most anticipated appearance of the evening... the annual arrival of Santa Claus, dispensing holiday cheer from atop his festive sleigh. Channel Islands Parade of Lights, Oxnard
Many beautifully decorated and lighted boats float through Channel Islands Harbor. Afternoon activities include musical entertainment, snowplay for the kids, horsedrawn carriages with sleigh bells, kiddie rides, strolling carolers, Santa's village, visits from Santa & Mrs. Claus, pony rides, petting zoo, and an arts & crafts boutique.
