Ventura County Certified Farmers Market at College of the Canyons

Operating in Valencia since 1993, the market brings about 40 California farmers weekly all year long--rain or shine! Producers must raise, catch, gather, grow or otherwise produce the product they sell. Growers of all agricultural items are certified by their county agricultural commissioner by an on-site inspection and specific market permits. All other food producers must have verifiable proof of production, an on-site inspection, meet all county and state health department regulations and carry appropriate licensing.

The VCCFMA does not allow commissioned sales, wholesale merchandise or resales of any kind to participate in the certified farmers' markets. These policies insure that the VCCFMA is serving the direct marketing program and providing an environment that the consumer can feel confident in the integrity of the items being presented for sale.

In addition to produce, other California agricultural items offerings are: fresh meat products, herbs, honey, eggs, whole and shelled nuts, cheese, olive oil, fruit juices, jams, jellies, cut flowers and potted plants.

Only vendors who are producers may sell their ag products at the market, which includes fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts, honey, cut flowers, beef, poultry, eggs and dairy. The producer must be certified by the California Department of Food and Agriculture and have a current Certified Producers Certificate (CPC).
