Students Learn in an Exciting, Age-Appropriate Way!
RTVF “Film Camp” Track:
The Radio, Television and Film (RTVF) department will host these sessions designed for both the "first time" and "up and coming" filmmakers.
The first session introduces the art and language of filmmaking! Students will work with a professional independent filmmaker to understand how to develop a compelling story.
The second session takes you into the production process, as each filmmaker will shoot and direct their chosen story, in a multi-day, multi-location film shoot!
Work with professional film directors and a cinematographer to shoot on film and digital video, and get a chance to be in front of and behind the camera!
The third session is “showtime” for filmmakers! Working with professional editors, you will put the finishing touches on your short subject film, and create your own DVD!
Fine Arts and Photography Track:
The fine arts and photography track includes digital photography such as Photoshop, painting, drawing, 2D and 3D mediums each day.
A different theme will be introduced each week. A $10 materials fee will be charged each session. Sign up for bonus hour separately at no additional cost.
Science Track:
The science track includes Computer Networking, Bio-technology and Chemistry.
We’ll be building small networks and learning what’s required for a good LAN party experience.
You’ll learn how to program and control robots remotely. See what can be done with wireless technologies and GPS and participate in a CSI lab, analyze your lunch, genetically engineer bacteria, do DNA fingerprints and much, much more.
A different theme and project will be introduced each week. A $10 materials fee will be charged each session. Sign up for bonus hour separately at no additional cost.
Theatre Track:
A dynamic, fun filled three weeks of exploring all aspects of theatre, acting and playmaking.
Working with professional theatre artists and teachers, students will participate in workshops for movement, speaking voice, ensemble playing, improvisation, playmaking, and production.
The three-week session culminates with all the development and presentation of a short play, where students are involved in all aspects of the production. Sign up for bonus hour separately at no additional cost.
Bonus Hour:
Prerequisite: This hour is reserved for the Junior High Summer Institute. Students must register in advance and may only attend during the week they are registered in.
You won’t want your student to miss the concepts from “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” facilitated by Junior Achievement each afternoon.
Each afternoon all tracks will gather for an interactive group experience with Junior Achievement. In the bonus hour your student will participate in activities with work place themes such as “Building Rapport” and “Resolving Conflict.”
Workshops are taught by business professionals from the local business community.
